Ch 5 Page 34

Grey finds himself lacking for answers. What's a gen-mod to do? Hope you're all hanging in there as best you can during these uncertain times. Living in California, I'm looking at being stuck at home at least til mid April, if not longer. I know how stressful this virus has us, so I hope these page updates can prove a welcome distraction. If you're ever feeling at a loss, my inbox is always open at michelle@centralia2050.com . (◡‿◡✿) As for me, I've been enjoying a lot of Animal Crossing between working on comics! Unfortunately, my work has taken a hit as a result of the virus. I've also had pretty much all my planned conventions cancelled. If you're able (and only if you're able!), I would really appreciate supporting either my Ko-Fi or my online shop! If that's not a possibility, then I would equally love if you introduce a new reader to Centralia! Quarantine time is excellent comics-reading time, yeah? Thank you as always for your readership and wonderful comments, you guys are the best!   Enjoy the update? Show the love via Ko-Fi!

  1. Thanks Michelle, I’m hanging in there. It’s actually surprising to see how many people have come together to help each other and be with family now that the world has ground to a halt and there’s time for it. Not just were I live, but all over the world. It’s unfortunate that it took a global pandemic in order to make us realize what we take for granted, but that seems to be a part of the human condition. I just hope after this is over with things change for the better. The world can be a great place, but we have to work together in order to make it that way.

    That piece of graffiti actually sums up not just what Midori is thinking, but I’m sure a lot of us right now are wondering the same thing, and in case any of you are, then you need to understand that we’re not perfect – and we were never meant to be. We learn by f*cking up, and it sucks when some of our peers chastise and belittle us over our mistakes, but we have to remember that to make mistakes is a part of being human, and a little forgiveness and understanding can go a long way. Not everyone in the world is good for whatever reason, but not everyone is awful either. I’m no prize. I’ve done some sh*tty things, but that doesn’t make me a bad person, and your mistakes don’t necessarily make you awful ether. Keep that in mind as we all take time to bury the past and start over. This isn’t the end of the world – it’s a chance to be better and learn from our past mistakes. We can never be perfect, but let’s all try our best to be better than we were before all of this started.

    To Michelle, Matt, and her animal entourage, I hope you’re all staying safe out there. Just hang in there a little longer. We can get through this.

    1. True, and I’m fortunate that I’m holed up with a human I enjoy the company of! I know not everyone is so fortunate right now. But I hope for the most part people can enjoy the time they have with others, and those who are alone can connect to friends and family online or by phone. I guess one benefit of us all being in it together, is you don’t have to explain your stress or anxiety to others– I think everyone is on the same page in that respect. I hope you’re staying safe and healthy!

      And yes, the pursuit of perfection is perhaps a futile one… especially if someone else is defining it.

  2. Your world might not, Midori, but I’m pretty happy with the ones we have here. ^^

    As to the pandemicky stuff, The place I work had some loose ends to tie up, so I’ll be laid off as of April 1st (no fooling). I check off four of the paint-a-target-on-your-chest boxes, so we’ll see what happens…..

    Stay safe, everyone. 🙂

    1. Yikes 🙁 Please stay safe and healthy, I hope that you can find some kind of unemployment relief (and not be stuck waiting weeks on end for it…)

  3. If ‘The World’ didn’t want gen-mods there probably wouldn’t be any. One type of people I could do without are the ones who need some identifiable group “X”: (easily seen to be distinct from ‘normal’ people, that is “like us”) that they can label as ‘inferior’ – and define their own value as ‘superior’ simply because they aren’t “X”. Those people are the heart and soul (shrunken and rotted as they are) of bigotry. I would be tempted to say that one of them would be two to many, but that would be mathematically absurd! ;-}}

    1. If only… sadly there will always be people who cannot resist being horrible :’)
