Is it really all for nothing?

  1. If you reached a point where you think you have failed, you atomaticly try to help others to avoid the same mistakes one has made…..

I like how the positions changed over the last three pages and its great to see you havent wrote your characters one dimensional (not that i ever thought that this would be the case). Its great to see how his hard shell is cracking even if he still tries to keep it up and how Midori confronts him with his own “words”.

    1. To be honest, it was a little tough at first to convey that shell cracking! I’d spent so much time showing Grey’s grouchy exterior that it was a challenge to show this change in dynamics. So, I’m glad that it comes across in a rewarding way. c:

      1. It works out – i have to admit at first i wasnt so sure, but i like how you were able to show how this situation gets to him and the way he cracks – not in a way that he just starts crying and breaking, but in a way that he isnt able to show more emotions because he has “trained” himself not to show any what makes it even harder for him.
        Definitive great work.

        1. Thank you so much! It was important for me to show how Grey in particular would handle the situation, and not just anyone’s response. A crying breakdown would have felt very out of character, at least in this case. It would take something more for that to happen.

  2. aw, really nice page

    1. Glad you like it! It’s been fun doing this more heartfelt scene.

  3. “I say a ,lot of things when I’m trying to stop a suicide.”

A shell like Grey’s costs a lot of emotional energy to maintain. Usually, when such shells crack, they crumble completely and leave their owner feeling helpless and exposed, and you’ve drawn that very well. I think we’re seeing why Grey was willing to go so far out of his way to help Midori.

They’d better get this all talked out before Mr. Sees-them-as-a-resource gets back.

    1. I’m glad it was portrayed well! Yeah, we’re finally learning quite a bit about Grey… but anything we learn about him feels like a lot, compared to Midori.

  4. This is a really touching scene….
